Quidditch
About
UTSA Club Quidditch, an official member of US Quidditch, competes nationwide in various tournaments as one of the only co-ed and full-contact sports at UTSA. The team comprises players with diverse athletic backgrounds and a competitive nature. Described as a blend of dodgeball, wrestling, basketball, and rugby, the sport offers a unique and dynamic experience. Tryouts are conducted every semester, and the team enthusiastically welcomes new players to join its ranks.
In the fall of 2012, UTSA Club Quidditch was founded under the name "Roadrunner Quidditch" or "RRQ" as an established organization of UTSA students who competed nationwide against players of all ages. Recognized as an official club sport in April 2013, RRQ transformed into UTSA Club Quidditch. In their inaugural year, RRQ qualified for World Cup VI (now known as USQ Cup), displaying their prowess among the nation's best in Kissimmee, Florida, leading to a "First Year Survival" award. Since then, they have appeared at every USQ Cup and traveled to places such as South Carolina and Utah. With an impressive 2023 victory in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, claiming their first national championship title against the Harvard Horntails, UTSA Club Quidditch solidified their dominance. Ending the 2023-2024 regular season with a remarkable 14-1 record, they once again reached the USQ Cup finals in Round Rock, Texas, falling just short of back-to-back championships. UTSA Club Quidditch is now fueled by determination, eagerly pursuing their next national title.
